In the United States, the life of an ex-military person can be daunting and filled with anxiety. A loss of identity, routine, and goals can impact veteran’s sense of self-worth, and leave them in distress. Electronic Arts (EA) has now come up with a new HOH (Hiring Our Heroes) program to give another purpose to those veterans and welcome them into the gaming industry Business.
This HOH program is mainly focused on organizing hiring events and offering fellowship sessions to harness veterans’ hands-on experience. EA provides essential education about gaming and management to veterans qualifying for the program. Considering a veteran’s experience in the real-world battlefield, EA also provides them with networking opportunities.
Veteran Hired By EA As A Top Official
Recently, EA hired two military veterans and celebrated the arrival of their valuable skills and experience in the company. Aaron Johnson is a former special forces operator, and now he serves as the Associate Game Manager at the Ripple Effect (Studio under EA Sports).
Aaron’s two decades of military service have taken him to locations like New York, Japan, Afghanistan, Italy, and North Carolina. In the special forces, he started as an operator, got promoted to a team sergeant, and then became a small unit team instructor. Despite being in the military, Aaron had an interest in gaming, and he got his first XBox even after some criticism. His interest deepened when he was posted in Afganistan, where gaming was a big companion of his and his team’s free time.
Retiring from the army was hard for Aaron, but EA’s HOH program gave him another chance to live his life to the fullest. Now, he enjoys his role as Associate Game Manager at the Ripple Effect, where his efforts and experience are well appreciated. At the EA studio, Aaron contributes to the future of the Battlefield game franchise. He helps the developer teams in creating an immersive and real experience for the Battlefield gamers. He helps them design realistic shooting simulations and create locations similar to a real battleground. Not only Aaron but many other veterans are getting the benefits of this HOH program and transitioning to the gaming industry business after their military service.
