Li Xiaomeng “Liooon” is a professional Hearthstone player from China who became the first woman to win the Grandmasters Global Finals. In the 2v2 match, she was up against the previous world champion, Tom. Li “Liooon” is also the winner of the BlizzCon Esports tournament, in which she showcased her extraordinary skills, beating each of her opponents.
Li “Liooon” became a Hearthstone Global Champion by defeating Bloodyface, who was representing the United States in 2019, and claimed the winning prize of $200 000. She became the first woman to bag the trophies while representing mainland China ever since the Hearthstone tournaments were introduced back in 2014.
Her battle name by which she is popular- VKLioon is a combination of her team Victory Key and her individual player ID Li “Liooon” which is a deliberate misspelling of Lion. The player was mocked at the first Hearthstone tournament by a male player, where she went as a backup for the game. The player mocked her by saying that, being a girl, she should not wait in line because this game and tournament are not for them. When Xiaomeng won the championship, she shared this story of hers along with a sentimental message for all female players out there.
