ESL has announced its calendar for Dota 2 2025 for its Pro Tour brand, which is going to take place in two parts. The organisers have not yet shared the location and other details, but the tournament will include a total of five matches that are divided into two parts- DreamLeague and ESL One. The competitive tour matches are scheduled to be held throughout the year, comprising three seasons of DreamLeague and two editions of ESL One.
ESL also announced that since Dota 2 will be part of the ESL Pro Tour brand, the company will hold open competitions and large-scale LAN events in 2025. The tournament circuit will feature a prize of approx. $1m for the winning team. Now that the company has set the calendar and added five events for Dota 2, we can say that there will be no other events in the Pro Tour.
This is concluded based on the events calendar 2024, as four tournaments are scheduled for the year for DreamLeague and ESL One. However, this year, an additional event, Masters in Dota 2, is also scheduled in which the best-placed teams will compete against each other.
According to the 2025 Dota 2 event calendar, the year will start with DreamLeague between February and March and end with ESL One in December. Also, one ESL One event will take place in Europe in April, and the remaining two DreamLeague events will be staged in May and November.
This announcement by ESL came right after its competitor BLASt announced its calendar and plans to enter Dota. The organisers also have another competitor, PGL, which plans to hold eight large Dota 2 events between 2024 and 2026. Since these companies and organisers are making the shocking announcements back to back, the competition in the Dota 2 landscape has seen a dramatic surge in only a few months.
