The Pune Rural Police has uncovered illegal betting operations that were carried out in Narayangaon, about 80 kilometers away from Pune. Police have arrested 90 people in a raid who were working for the Mahadev betting app in a private building in Narayangaon.
According to the Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Deshmukh, they have been suspected of some illegal activities in a multi-storeyed building in Narayangaon. It led the Rural Crime Branch and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Khed to conduct a raid and reveal the truth of illegal and BPO-like operations in the building.
According to the Pune Rural Police, they arrested 90 workers from the building on Wednesday. Police found that workers were dealing with money transactions related to the Mahadev betting app and Lotus 365 betting app. Police have seized many mobile phones, laptops, and other equipment from the building.
The workers were used to working in three shifts to manage all these transactions across the country. Police said that this illegal betting was carried out in the last two months. Also, they are searching for two prime suspects in the case: Raj Bokaria and Rutvik Kothari.
According to the Pune Rural Police, the Mahadev betting app offers illegal betting on different sports, such as cricket, football, poker, tennis, and even Indian Lok Sabha Elections. Police also said that Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal from Dubai operate the app, and many other people are involved in the case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted an investigation and found that the Mahadev betting app is running a large illegal gambling network. ED has also found the involvement of politicians and Bollywood celebrities in these illegal gambling activities. According to Pankaj Deshmukh, the SP of Pune, 90 people have been summoned for inquiry, and the investigation is going on to reveal this case.
