In the past, IWO (Intel World Open) tried a similar esports event format with Psyonix’s title in 2019. The event clashed several countries against each other in the tournament and even got the finale planned in a LAN at the 2020 Summer Olympics. However, due to the pandemic in 2020, the event couldn’t mortalize itself in the esports industry.

Details On Rocket League World Cup

Although this event is a first of it’s kind, there has been much information revealed regarding the championship. From what we can tell, this is going to be a whole new experience for the players and fans alike. There is going to be a new format, new teams, and more events like this coming later this year.

A 30-second video was posted on X, Confirming that a total of 16 different countries will be participating in this event. All 16 countries will be selected based on the representatives they send, which will be done in a previous RLCS event. Taking a wild guess, the countries that could make it to the event’s rosters at the moment’s notice are the USA, Canada, France, Australia, Brazil, and the UK.

Although only 12 countries participated in the RLCS event, and only 7 of those countries sent 3 more players, there is still much opportunity for players from other countries.

FIFAE X The Rocket League

FIFAe has been organizing tournaments for FIFA for a long time, and adding Rocket League to the list seems only a natural step. A statement from Cristian Volk, Director of eFootball and gaming at FIFA, says that this World Cup featuring Rocket League marks a new era for FIFAe. Volk also mentioned that this event is going to provide a groundbreaking platform for FIFA’s member association to compete in the most relevant esports titles.

Interestingly enough, the statements on FIFA’s official website seem to clear the fact that they are also giving chances to players who aren’t affiliated with pro organizations. From the open qualifiers to the last lap of their last race in December, Ferrari will analyze the performance of all 16 drivers. They mentioned that they’ll also look into each player’s consistency throughout the tournament. At the end of the season, Ferrari will determine the best drivers based on their overall performance and consistency.

Valve has plans to put an end to the franchise-style league in Counter-Strike since last year. Now, the company is conducting changes in BLAST format and has a plan to open up a new esports ecosystem at the start of 2025. The company claimed that the BLAST Premier current format, the ‘partner team’ structure, will continue alongside a few slots open to non-partner teams vie qualifiers.

BLAST’s New Plans To Change BLAST Premier

The BLAST current structure contains 16 permanent teams who bought in and received guaranteed investments. According to the new 2025 BLAST Premier plan, the event will contain 6 standalone tournaments that will be categorized into two seasons. The first event will take place in Lisbon and London, and the company is planning to release more sets in the future. 

Additionally, the tournament organizers will have introduced the BLAST Bounty for the top 30 CS2 teams and two wildcards. Each team earning half of the bounty will benefit with guaranteed payouts. The remaining bounty will be carried over into the next patch and will added to the existing bounty of the tournament.

The organizer of the tournament also unveiled the BLAST Open, where 16 teams under Valve Global Ranking will have to compete with 4 qualifier teams from BLAST Premier. The Open will be played from BLAST’s studio in Copenhagen before moving to the finals organized in various cities. In addition, the Premier format will also contain BLAST Rivals, where the top 8 ranked teams will battle with each other to win the whole tournament.

Investments And Tournament Partners Of BLAST Premier

 Andrew Haworth, VP of Ecosystem for BLAST, Valve, and Riot Games, has commented in the news that 2025 is going to be the most exciting year for BLAST. The tournament organizer announced an investment of $6 million directly in the teams through a new payment structure. The company has not revealed any details about the payment structure and price pool.

The organizers have also said that BLAST Premier is one of the best and freshest formats for the fans and players that will maintain the excitement throughout the tournament. The world’s best team for Valve Ranking and regional qualifiers will compete on a global platform for the dynamic prize pool. With this new format, Counter-Strike expects to enter the esports scene, including DOTA 2, Rainbow Six Seige, Rocket League, and Fortnite.

EWC is an esports festival that is backed by the Saudi Arabian government, to which several organisers have contributed. The initiative for this multi-title esports festival was taken by the Saudi Arabian Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman.

Since the Saudi government is involved in the EWC event, the prize pool that is kept is the highest in the history of esports. However, the country has been criticised by other stakeholders and members of the gaming community because of their stance on several political factors. Women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and censorship are a few of them to be mentioned, which is why stakeholders are feeling uneasy about having them as investors.

They even claim that their expansion in EWC is for “esportswashing” and that they want to distract the world from its human rights records. As the announcement of the partnership was made, many notable personalities like PGL CEO Silviu Stroie, esports host Caleb Simmons, Caster Parker MacKay, and on-air talent Thom ‘F.’ Badinger resigned from their respective posts in the panel.

Many other personalities, like host Alex Goldenboy Mendez, Sean Rogers, and more, took X as a medium to express their disagreement with this decision and also shared their personal views. Although sometimes it leads to the dying of his avatar, it’s just Topson things in the end.

Ana: Ana is considered the best carry on the team and has been recognized as possibly the best in the world. Ana has bested the toughest combats in esports history, consisting of astonishing 1v9 gameplay wins and 186 kills in a pub game.

Ceb: He is considered the mastermind of the team OG; he started coaching the team in 2016. His master strategies have led the team to win 4 Major titles in 2016-17. He is also the one who recruited Topson for the team.

N0tail: He is called the Big Daddy of the team OG, as he is a co-founder of this organization. He has collected players who were capable of carrying the team to new heights as he imagined at the start. He has focused on friendships and team bondings merged with true talent.

Xbox has suddenly closed four of its Bethesda studios, including Redfall’s developer Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks, earlier this week. The other two studios were Alpha Dog Games, developer of Mighty Doom, and Bethesda support team Roundhouse Games. These teams released a closure to their shutdown, while Xbox remained silent on the whole topic.

Four days later, in a Bloomberg interview, host Dina Bass asked Xbox president Sarah Bond about the closure. Sarah stated her desire to keep the Xbox business healthy in the long run, even if it requires her to make hard decisions.

Sarah also mentioned that they haven’t closed these studios out of spite or without considering all the options. She stated that there are many great things coming out later this year as well. But their main goal right now is to support the people to cope with this hard transition.

Dina Bass then asked Sarah about the closure of Tango Gameworks after the Hi-Fi rush, which was a big success. To the Question Sarah didn’t answer straightforwardly.
