The PUBG Mobile community is vibrant with the leaked news of the upcoming 3.3 update. This update is set to introduce a new mode, a variety of weapons, exciting skins, and a game-changing X-Suit. The news has ignited a wave of discussions on Twitter and Instagram, with players coming together to share their excitement and anticipation.

In the gameplay, you will be thrilled to see a few architectural changes at some point in Lees. These are considered similar to PUBG, where developers paid attention to the fan’s request and made changes in two areas.

The first change is done with Spawn Island, where the space is covered with ruins in algae. The new update will be based on the sunken city of Atlantis and will excite gamers with underwater action. Also, there are elements added to the Atlantis game, like Trident.

Further, the gamers will reveal the level three loot underwater, where the new deep island is located between Water City, Ruin, and Noverepnoy. The players are excited about the punch fight scuba diving and are allowed to swim very fast.

Unlike previous updates, the gamers will also not lose weight. In the game, there is a mini-place where you get a loot crate that is level three or four to be in the Airdrops.

What Are Exciting Players In The Latest Updates?

There is a trident house in some parts of the map. Where once you enter the house, you will get a pick loot from special creatures.

Similarly, Tencent has made a new change in Span Island, where a plane takes off from the lobby to Erangel, which will be different in the 3.3 update. Besides, you will be excited to unleash a new stingray, similar to the 3.1 updates Flying Carpet and 3.2 jet pack.

Weapons: Here, the new weapons called Trivent will be event-centric, and there is a themed mode where you have to find a trident in the new Hot Drop. It gives the task of completing lots of attacks on enemies. This weapon has a lot of power, and it can harm enemies and damage health points.

Architectural features: In the architectural features section, you will see the two places on the map: Stalber and Mylta. They will get a new building where Stabler will see the completely changed observatory. You will be excited to reveal other landscaping, and Mylta has been given a new look as well.

Other Features: The new update of PUBG will also provide other important features, such as prize path rewards and in-game obstacle items. It has been revealed that a new female X-suit will be added to the game.

Modes such as Payload Mode, Metro Royale Mode, and WOW Mode will remain the same.

Xbox has suddenly closed four of its Bethesda studios, including Redfall’s developer Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks, earlier this week. The other two studios were Alpha Dog Games, developer of Mighty Doom, and Bethesda support team Roundhouse Games. These teams released a closure to their shutdown, while Xbox remained silent on the whole topic.

Four days later, in a Bloomberg interview, host Dina Bass asked Xbox president Sarah Bond about the closure. Sarah stated her desire to keep the Xbox business healthy in the long run, even if it requires her to make hard decisions.

Sarah also mentioned that they haven’t closed these studios out of spite or without considering all the options. She stated that there are many great things coming out later this year as well. But their main goal right now is to support the people to cope with this hard transition.

About Tango Gamework’s Closure

Dina Bass then asked Sarah about the closure of Tango Gameworks after the Hi-Fi rush, which was a big success. To the Question Sarah didn’t answer straightforwardly. Sarah answered about her love for the games in their pure art form and how she likes them to be perfect. She mentioned that when it’s about making big decisions, they look at each game team’s performance and other factors.

While Dina addressed these closures, there isn’t much clarity from one of the biggest companies in the gaming industry. Neither Xbox, nor Microsoft has cleared about their huge transitional decisions and layoffs.

Microsoft is ready to introduce its new online stores in July and aims to compete with the established stores of Apple and Google. At the Bloomberg Technology Summit, Sarah Bond, the CEO of Xbox, announced the news. Initially, the store will focus on Microsoft’s games like Candy Crush Saga, with a plan to expand and attract games from other producers as well.

Microsoft is strategically aiming to circumvent the fees associated with Google and Apple’s marketplaces by providing an alternative platform for purchasing gaming consumables. Sarah Bond also revealed that, initially, the store would only be web-based, a move designed to ensure accessibility to any devices in any country.

This strategic decision not only ensures a wider reach but also allows Microsoft to offer a more competitive pricing structure, benefiting both the company and the gamers.

Statements From Microsoft’s Officials.

According to Sarah’s statement, the platform will indeed go beyond the web in the future. Microsoft is also seeing this as an opportunity to create a store where users can maintain their gaming identity, library, and rewards across multiple platforms.

Another spokesperson from Xbox mentioned that this web-based store will be the start of establishing a trustworthy app store for gamers.

Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s Gaming Chief, has already mentioned the Xbox’s personal app store could debut in 2024. He also hinted about the mobile store’s launch at that time. He stated that it’s an important part of their strategy and is under building a strong foundation with partners of this project.

Microsoft’s move is supported by the European Union’s Digital Market Act, which allows tech companies to bypass fees associated with Apple and Google’s marketplaces. At the moment, Apple and Google levy standard fees of around 30% in sales, and the concern is about their dominance in the app store market.

Tekken fans will get to witness the unique crossover of gaming and dining experiences brought together by two well-known organisations. Disguise, which is an esports organisation, is partnering with an international food chain, Chipotle Mexican Grill, to debut at FGC. Earlier on 9th May 2024, Jeremy Wang revealed to the world that PhiDX is the first player of Tekken 8.

After the partnership, the organisation will be seen participating in the Evolution Championship Series, in which Phi ‘PhiDX’ Lam will represent them. This event is scheduled to be held from the 19th to the 21st of May in Las Vegas.

However, the organisation has announced that it will not only take part in Tekken 8 but also send teams to other games in FGC. They have teams ready for League of Legends, Apex Legends, and VALORANT too and they will be seen competing against other teams around the world.

The participation of Chipotle in FGC is not new for the fans, but this time, it has partnered with a reputable esports brand, Disguised, which was founded in 2023. Before this current partnership, it partnered with Tekken 8 to become a presenting partner of the tournament. Not only that, Chipotle is also a commercial partner of the 2024 Tekken World Tour so this partnership will be a treat to watch.

As Lam was just recruited by Disguised to represent EVO, he expressed his gratitude towards the organisation through a post on Twitter, saying he loves both entertainment and competition. He feels blessed as he has had an opportunity to be able to do both.

Keep your eyes on EVO as the first FGC player to represent its signing organisations, DSG and Chipotle, in the upcoming competition. Let us see how his passion and gaming skills turn out in the matches that he will play.

ASSOCHAM (Associated Chamber of Commerce and India) has organised a roundtable discussion on World Intellectual Property (IP) Day on April 26. The aim of this conference was to strengthen the intellectual property law to support the growing gaming industry in India. The round table witnessed the participation of legal experts, industry professionals, and government representatives.

The market size of India’s gaming industry is around USD 3.98 billion, which has shown a rapid expansion in the last few decades. The industry includes over 900 micro, small, and medium enterprises and startups, and it has become a necessity to safeguard their IP. India is one such country that has no strong laws to protect IP, which makes it lag behind countries like the USA, China, and France.

According to “The Print,” India has shown deep concern about the IP laws for the gaming industry and addressed various challenges. The main highlight of the discussion is the misunderstanding around skill-based electronic games. There is confusion between online gambling and betting games, which creates obstacles to safeguarding the innovative aspects of electronic games.

The Opinions Regarding Intellectual Property Law.

The meeting involves Gust Justice Pratibha M. Singh, Delhi High Court Judge, along with legal luminaries like Senior Advocate Amit Sibal and Partner and National Practice Head-IPR Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co., Dev Robinson. Along with these personalities, Saikrishna Rajagopal, the Managing Partner or Saikrishna & Associate, was also present at the event. All have kept their different opinion on IP law in India’s gaming industry and agreed on the urgent need to protect the unique element and expression of interactive games.

Some suggest categorising such interactive games as “computer programs” under the Copyright Act of 1957 and imposing the Patent Act of 1970 to protect innovative game elements. Some suggested international practices like US copyright law to protect audio and visual content. Everyone agreed to the recently released online gaming rules by the Ministry of Information Technology under which skill-based are permissible.

A report from an official suggests that the government is about to offer some relief to the money gaming industry from the retrospective tax claims. This matter has already been presented in the Supreme Court, and the hearing is set to be held in July this year.

Even if the Supreme Court favours the Government, the road to recovery is rumoured to be challenging. Demand notices are a couple of times higher than the revenues of the noticeable companies. However, Financial Express reports that the government is steadfast in its support for the money gaming industry, regardless of the Supreme Court’s hearing outcome.

In April this year, the Supreme Court transferred 27 writ petitions to itself, challenging a levy of 28% on all forms of real-money gaming with retrospective effect. However, those petitions are still pending across nine states.

The central government has sought for these petitions to be transferred from the High Court to the Supreme Court. After that, the Supreme Court also decided to seek the Directorate General of Goods and Services Taxes Intelligence in this issue. Dream11, Games 24×7, and Head Digital Works are among the main petitioners.

Last year in September, as the Supreme Court issued a stay on the Karnataka High Court order, GST field officers issued notices of over Rs.1.12 lakh Crore for online gaming companies. Those notices were issued in response to alleged tax invasions and prompted legal challenges.

Earlier, the Karnataka High Court quashed one of the notices worth Rs21,000 crore. While stating that online rummy played on a gaming platform called Gameskraft was not taxable as a betting or a gambling company.

Online gambling and casinos are the fastest-growing betting platforms, and millions worldwide use them to explore thrilling actions and profitable outcomes. The latest data reveals that online gaming and casino retrospective GST cases listed in SC today involve payments of thousands of crores calculated at 28 percent of the bet’s face value.
This official notification was taken to the Supreme Court, which listed GamesKraft and a batch of matters today before the 3 judges’ bench headed by DY Chandrachud, judge of the Chief Justice of India. Here, the hearing on Friday finalises that the batch of cases will be listed after the summer vacation in July 2024, when the court opens.
Further, tomorrow’s listing is to take directions from the bench on the procedural aspects, where matters may be heard for a few minutes. The Supreme Court currently holds a cluster of 30 petitions from online real-money gaming firms.
In April, it transferred to itself 27 writ petitions where the decision is pending across 9 different state high courts. Also, they are challenging the levy of 28% GST on all forms of online real-money gaming with a retrospective effect.

What Decisions Were Made By The Supreme Court Of India?

The same announcement was made in December 2023, when the apex court declined to halt these notices but agreed to hear the plea. These gaming firms face 71 show-cause notices for GST evasion of Rs 1.12 lakh crore in 2022-23, excluding interest and penalties.

Here, the penalty of 100% of tax demand, which could surpass 2.4 crore, including interest, would be charged under Section 74. Moreover, earlier data reveals that on October 1, 2023, a 28 percent GST was levied on the full face value of online gaming bets by the GST Council, where review was taken after 6 months.

The Supreme Court also sought a response from the Director General of goods and services tax, where petitioners were Dream 11, Games 24/7, and Head Digital Work. It is said that in September last year, a supreme court imposed a stay of operations of Karnataka high court order where GST filed officers notices Rs. 1.12 lakh crore to online gaming companies for alleged tax evasions and facing legal challenges.

Earlier, the Karnataka high court squashed a GST notification of Rs 21,000 crore on hold due to online, electronic, or digital rummy played on Gameskraft not being taxable as a betting or gambling industry.

After meeting in July and August 2023, it was recommended that online gambling and casinos, along with horse racing, be charged 28% on full face value without differentiating games of skills from games of chance. This became effective in October 2023, and currently, the prospective application is not being challenged.

TalkEsport is India’s esports media platform that has been running since 2011 and it has enough followers to consume its content related to the esports industry. Saswat Ventures saw potential in TalkEsport to succeed globally in the esports industry and backed it with an impressive $1 million investment in its Pre-Series A funding round.

Deepak Ojha, Founder and CEO of TalkEsport, talked about Saswat Ventures becoming their strategic partner with an investment of $1 million. He said their aim is to enhance the esports ecosystem and the gaming experiences of audiences globally. Mr. BL Sharma, who runs Saswat Ventures, also shared his excitement about investing in TalkEsport. According to Mr. Sharma, TalkEsport has the potential to engage and entertain gamers worldwide.

TalkEsport is planning to use the money wisely so that it can fulfil the expectations of Saswat Ventures and gamers worldwide. According to Ojha, TalkEsport will work on its website to make it more user-friendly and interesting for esports enthusiasts. The company will also launch a mobile application where users can access global news related to the esports industry, live scores, interviews, and participate in esports tournaments.

Additionally, TalkEsport is planning to open a production studio in Mumbai with the investment amount. The studio will be focused on creating new content IPs for global audiences, whether they are videos or texts. According to Pranav Nalawade, Editor-in-chief of TalkEsport, they understand the importance of podcasts, short-form content, and analytical stories to engage audiences, and they aim to make all such content in their studio for Indian and International audiences.

The Esports industry in India is growing at an impressive rate, which has inspired many people to make investments in this sector. Earlier this year in February, Esports professionals Abjijeet ‘Ghatak’ Andhare and Sunny ‘Fea’ Lohia started a company named Trident Gaming.

The Prime Minister of India also met with stakeholders from the esports industry in April 2024 and discussed the development opportunities. This partnership between TalkEsport and Saswat Ventures will boost the esports industry in India and contribute globally as well.
