On May 6th, a Fortnite leak revealed the working and original idea for Pandora’s Box in the game. As Fortnite is under its Greek mythology-themed season, the Pandora Box has become a centrepiece of attention for every gamer. On March 2nd, when Chapter 5, season 1 ended with a live event, Titan’s hand pulled the box out of the ground.
As soon as Pandora’s Box was revealed, players started to attack it and opened it in less than 24 hours. With the box opened, a vortex burst right out of it, along with a bug that allowed players to build even in Zero Build Mode. As players killed NPCs and passed through the vortex coming forth from the box, it provided them with materials to build in game mode.
Pandora’s Box Wasn’t Supposed To Work Like This
Contrary to the ancient Greek myth, where Pandora’s box was given to Pandora with strict instructions never to open it, Fortnite’s interpretation took a different turn. In a revelation by HYPEX, a well-known and credible Leaker, on May 6th, the original design of the box was unveiled, shedding light on its unique function within the game’s narrative.
HYPEX revealed some concept art of Pandora’s Box created by Senior Environment Concept Artist Samuel Williams. Originally, the box consisted of several panels, each of which contained chains that revealed teasers when broken. Eventually, when the box’s last panel was reached and broken, players would be challenged to smash it open.
Hypex has a long history of revealing leaks way ahead of their official release. On May 4th, he revealed much about the Star Wars Holiday and teased Billie Eilish ahead of her Fortnite Festival debut.
When the box was destroyed, it revealed the teaser for the next season. Epic Games, however, delayed the release of the next season, which isn’t new in Fortnite’s history. The opinion related to this pandora’s box bug is divided, leading some players to say that it’s good that Fortnite went with only one chain. On the other hand, some players said they would prefer to have all the teasers dropped alongside the breakage of the box.
Players have a lot to look forward to in the next Season 3 of Chapter 5, as Fall-Guys content is also coming to the game releasing on May 24th.
