Actor and Influencer Sahil Khan was arrested by Mumbai Police on Sunday, April 28th, 2024. This arrest came after several days of interrogation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a cat-and-mouse chase between the SIT and Khan. The actor was declared absconding by Saturday, April 27th, after the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police failed to find him at his Mumbai residence on Friday, April 26th.
In December 2023, Khan attempted to obtain anticipatory bail through the Bombay High Court. However, his plea was dismissed due to substantial evidence against him. Khan is accused of promoting the betting app Lotus 24/7, which is said to be a subsidiary app of Mahadev betting apps.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) caught Sahil Khan in Chhattisgarh. As reported by NDTV, Khan crossed five states after his anticipatory bail was rejected by a court on April 25. Khan and his driver fled Mumbai on April 25 and went to Goa.
He then went to Karnataka’s Hubballi, from which he went to Hyderabad. He even switched off his mobile phone to avoid getting caught, but investigators were able to trace his and his driver’s location through his cell phone when he was in Hyderabad.
This made the actor flee towards Chhattisgarh. He even forced his driver to drive at night in a Maoist-prone area. They stopped at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh, where they got arrested by police officials. The Special Investigation Team detained Sahil Khan and is transferring him to Mumbai for legal proceedings.
As reported, the fitness influencer allegedly promoted a betting app called The Lion Book App on his social media. He also attended events in the UAE associated with the app’s launch and celebration parties. The app is allegedly part of the Mahadev betting network. Khan is also a partner in Lotus 24/7 app.
In the past week, actress Tamannah Bhatia was summoned regarding her involvement in promoting the betting App FairPlay. FairPlay is also a subsidiary app of Mahadev’s betting network.
The app was alleged to have committed copyright infringement by streaming the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the app, without permission from the original copyright holder Viacom18.
Mahadev Online Book scam which is worth 15,000 crore is the biggest scam in India, with the involvement of Chhattisgarh’s Ex-cm and bureaucrats. It is believed that we might see more development regarding Mahadev Online Book and its subsidiary apps on the upcoming weeks.Â
