Seán William McLoughlin is an Irish YouTuber better known as  “Jacksepticeye” among its fans. Jack is known for their energetic narration and comedy in his gaming vlogs because his voice impression first caught attestation by channel mage YouTuber PewDiePie in 2013. Since then, he has come into the limelight and become a household name among gaming enthusiasts across the world.

According to the March 2024 report, his YouTube channel has gained over 16.6 million views and 30.6 million subscribers. This achievement has taken a long journey and made him one of the second-most subscribed Irish YouTubers. Throughout his YouTube career, Jack expanded to other businesses, releasing his own clothing brands, opening his own coffee shop during a pandemic, and even podcasting.

Early Life And Education

McLoughlin was born and brought up in County Offaly, Ireland, on February 7, 1990. He is the youngest among five siblings, which include two older sisters, Allison and Susan, and two older brothers, Malcolm and Simon. He graduated from high school in the late 2000s, and by the year 2010, Jack had dropped out of Music Technology in Limerick, Ireland, and finished college in 2014.

McLoughlin was the former drummer of Raised, an indie heavy-metal band, during his school time. This was the time when he got the name “Jacksepticeye” from his friends while playing football in his childhood. Jack got injured in his eyes during the match, and since then, his friends started calling him “Jack Septic Eye,” and later on, he carried out his nickname.

William McLoughlin started playing video games at the age of seven in the neighborhood tree house. During his childhood, he loved to spend time playing Nintendo Game Boy and discovered a sense of belonging in the video games. At the age of 18, Jack and his family moved to Ballycumber and pursued further studies there.

YouTube Career And Opportunities

McLoughlin started uploading his first YouTube video in December 2012 under the name “Jacksepticeye.” Although he created his channel on February 24, 2007, he didn’t start making his own video until 2012. Initially, he was focused on voice impressions before transitioning to gameplay videos.

People began to recognize Jack in 2013 when PewDiePie mentioned his name in his video. After his incident, his channel boosted from 2,500 subscribers to 15,000 subscribers in just four days. Due to the success of his channel, McLoughlin decided to join the YouTube channel as a full-time job by May 2014.

Apart from his gaming career, he earned various opportunities in his career, like attending Indy Pop Con, Insomnia 62, and PAX East and PAX West from 2015 to 2019. He also interviewed several Hollywood celebrities, such as Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool and Aquaman actor Jason Momoa. He even participated in charity work during the COVID-19 pandemic by collaborating with 100 creators and his fans.

World of Warcraft is gearing up for its new expansion, The War Within, to its players. The expansion is set to be a significant addition promising game-changing experience for players.

Recently, WoW player and streamer Naguura interviewed The game developers Sean McCann and  Michael Bybee of World of Warcraft and asked them questions regarding the new expansion, new endgame content in the game, called Delves, and much more.

I Asked Senior WoW Developers About End-Game In The New WoW Expansion

Can we expect some item rewards from Delves like Mythic Plus, and how far up will they scale up those rewards?

Sean McCann – Mythic Plus is the highest tier for Mythics, and it will always be above Delves. Delves will have 11 tiers in total for difficulty, Tiers 4 through 11 are going to unlock when the new season begins. We want the players to get used to mechanics before entering the difficulty level.

Our current plan is that the Highest Delves reward will go up to Mythic 5. Players will get extra rewards if they get to max levels.

Will Delves be Mandatory for Wow Players?

Sean McCann – It’s not mandatory to complete Delves content, it’s up to players whether they want to do it. In case they aren’t interested in the Delves they can complete other missions.

Is Delves going to be Similar to Mage Tower Content Difficulty?

Sean McCann – After the 11th tier, we have another tier which is the 13th tier, it’s going to be a one-room boss fight in the 13th tier. It’s going to be super hard, and we plan to cross the difficulty level of The Mage Tower. We recently tasted the 13th tier and no one was able to beat it.

Are Seasonal Affixes Coming Back?

Blizzard Entertainment has removed Seasonal Affixes, and people want to know if we can see the Seasonal Affixes returning.

Michael Bybee – The team is talking about Seasonal Affixes, and we have some plans for it and we will talk about it in the Future.

You can watch the full interview on Naguura’s YouTube channel. As per rumors War of Warcraft: The War Within is set to release between June and September this year, players are eager to play the new endgame Content Delves as well.

Gaming is exponentially growing in India, all thanks to YouTube and gaming creators. If you are from Generation Z, then you started your gaming channel, but it lasted up to two months. Gaming has always been the favorite of Indians, India is mainly a mobile-focused market in gaming. With only 9% of people playing on PCs and 4% on consoles.

YouTube has become the most popular platform in India to showcase your skills in gaming. It has paved a path to gamers earning 1 Lakh and more by just uploading gameplay and streaming live on YouTube.

In an interview with MoneyControl, gaming creators have shared their opinions on YouTube, how they are making money, YouTube algorithms, and how YouTube can improve their site.

Making Money From YouTube

Gagandeep Singh, aka Sikhwarrior, a gaming content creator with more than 100k subscribers said “There’s enough audience in YouTube to maintain a steady flow of income.” “You have to make your audience happy so that they become a member of your channel or do super chat on your live stream.”

A YouTube Content Creator earns money in 3 Ways –

  • YouTube Partner Program – After joining the YOUTUBE partner program, you can earn money from ads, which will be shown in your videos. The more views your video has the more you will earn.
  • SuperChat and Membership – Users can support their favorite creators by donating money on their live stream or joining their membership.
  • Sponsorship – Companies pay creators to promote their products.

A point to be noted is that the earnings fluctuate a lot if you aren’t an established creator, “You need to be established to have a study source of income, it also feels risky sometimes’, says Ankkita C, a YouTube gaming content creator with 339k subscribers.

The main reason behind this is India is a mobile-heavy market, people prefer to watch gameplay videos of those games which they play. It is why Indian users won’t watch gameplay videos of Palworld or Helldivers 2. It’s exceptional when you become an established creator, your audience will watch your videos no matter what you upload.

“You need to hustle, to build your audience base,” says Shobith Roy aka TbOne.

Which is Better: YouTube or Twitch?

Twitch has been giving tough competition to YouTube since its release. So what do gamers prefer?

“YouTube has potential as it’s already pre-installed on your phone. Twitch is good for live streaming, but it’s still hard for new gamers on Twitch. In YouTube your channel mainly depends on your video content, not live streaming, good video content can grow your channel, but live streaming discoverability is very bad compared to Twitch” Singh says.

“Twitch is a go-to platform for gamers compared to YouTube, they provide a lot of tools and support to gamers in comparison to YouTube. YouTube isn’t for gaming, it’s a multi-content platform” Rai told MoneyControl.

Improvement Gamers Want In YouTube

Gamers share their thoughts on what YouTube can improve on their platform.

“More Discoverability of Live streaming, downloading clips from your stream in Creator studio, Better quality of 1080p (60FPS), Membership gifting option, and Giveaway features from the studio” commented Singh.

“YouTube needs to fix their problem of Notification, most of my subscribers don’t get notifications of my latest videos, even after clicking the notification of all videos” states Ankita.

“YouTube needs to add some advanced tools and features like Twitch,” says Rai.

Mobile gaming is evolving every day, and the same goes for all gamers and users globally. The gaming community is growing day by day, and thousands of gamers are getting into this sector mainly for the enjoyment and career opportunities it provides. Recently, a global gaming expert, Noam Zada, who is also the head of Tiktok-based EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) Global Gaming Business Marketing, opened up about the transformative power of cultural resonance in the gaming sector.

Naom Zada has already been a head of Tiktok’s Israel Marketing Department, contributing to scaling their presence, collaborations, and perceptions. She has also helped the Iseral department to expand its global and domestic markets. A global marketing expert, Zada was also one of more than 250+ expert speakers delivering 29 conference tracks at Pocket Gamer Connects London on January 22nd to 23rd. In a recent interview with PocketGamer.biz, she shared some key insights into the dynamic mobile gaming landscape and its future.

Here are the key highlights and takeaways from her recent interview:

Common Mistakes Being Made In the Gaming Sector

Zada in her interview highlighted the most common mistakes that are being made in the gaming sector. According to her, the most common mistake is underestimating the transformative power of culture embedded into game marketing. She also mentioned that gaming is usually not included in cultural conversations, which definitely limits the true potential of a game’s reach. She also said that failing to cater to varied cultural nuances of modern gamers can also be a hindrance to a game’s potential reach.

When Zada was asked about a piece of advice for gaming companies, she recommended embracing the ‘New Title Launch’ strategy. She also advised gaming companies to use this strategy while prioritising cultural relevance. Additionally,  she mentioned that adopting timely and culturally resonant marketing strategies can positively impact connections between games and their players.

Upcoming Opportunities For Mobile Gaming Market

According to Noam Zada, combining cultural trends with gaming can literally open up an unprecedented amount of opportunities. Popular games that foster strong communities tap into these cultural trends on platforms like TikTok and seize the spotlight not only for them but for the game as well.

During the interview, Noam was asked about her Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics, she mentioned that player engagement is the key. She also added that it’s not only about the downloads; the KPI also depends on how deeply players connect with and how much they enjoy it over time.

Game Types Hitting The Mainstream And Overhyped Trends

Answering another question, “What game do you think offers something new that has yet to hit the mainstream?” Noam mentioned the RTS and AR-fused games. As there are many innovative games under development right now, she especially highlighted the potential of AR and RTS (Real-Time Strategy) games. According to her, the integration of AR in RTS can  transform everyday environments into dynamic gaming arenas, offering a fresh, exciting and engaging way to experience strategy gaming.

Talking about the overhyped trends in the market, Noam mentioned NFTs and said that they are overhyped without necessarily showcasing tangible value within gaming ecosystems. According to her, cultural resonance should be a core aspect of a “new title launch” strategy for sustained engagement.

The final question of the interview revolved around what she enjoys most about working in the mobile games industry. In reply, she said, “The constant innovation and the potential to combine cultural moments with gaming experiences.”
