The sixth edition of the India Gaming Show welcomed the participation of over 70 exhibitors representing 10 countries. Indonesia also made its grand debut as the event’s guest country, which showed India’s global reach and significance in the gaming community worldwide.

According to experts at CII, there is a lot of potential in the Indian gaming sector, backed by current trends observed in PC, mobile, and console gaming.

More importantly, Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII, said India needs a policy framework to ensure an ethical gaming environment. He also emphasized the fact of normalizing responsible gaming practices and educating people about ethical and responsible gaming nationwide.

Furthermore, Banerjee signified the importance of innovation and skill development in the gaming community. He noted a notable 49% increase in the number of women engaging in gaming, which can be attributed to efforts aimed at enhancing the talent pool and diversifying the demographics.

In the end, the India Gaming Show ended on a good note, and CII officials suggested that with the right policies and innovation, India’s gaming sector could grow exponentially.

The gaming and esports industry is growing in Maharashtra a lot faster. While the Government of Maharashtra never supported Esports or Gaming directly, they started involving in gaming and esports through their recent projects. 

The gaming convention occurred from March 14 to March 16, with 20 gaming companies participating. IGS hosted their session panels with several industry veterans speaking about gaming and esports.

Playda, Pixcell Play, PlayCKC, Brahman Studios, NoobStorm, Pro Shooter VR, and Mantis Pro Gaming were the 7 startups selected to take part in the program, due to their unique offering to the online gaming industry. These startups cover various areas such as new game development, real-time analytics, security protocols, and community integration. These seven startups demonstrated their innovative strategies, which can transform the Indian gaming industry in the future. 

With support from mentors associated with Games24x7, Amazon Web Services, and Lumikai, the chosen startups obtained help in refining their strategies to prepare for pitching their visions to a panel of investors. This investor panel includes Peak XV, Prime Venture Partners, Sony Innovation Fund, and additional stakeholders. 

Priyank Kharge, the Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, emphasized the Karnataka government’s dedication to promoting emerging industries such as online gaming. He pointed out Games24x7’s GameTech accelerator program as evidence of Karnataka’s commitment to supporting new talent and progress in the digital sector.

Rajat Bansal, the Chief Technology Officer at Games24x7, praised the startups for their innovative thinking and mindset. He said the accelerator program is designed to accelerate their path to success by offering mentorship, guidance, and a platform to showcase creativity and innovation. 

A few Government officers attended the accelerator program, such as Dr. Ekroop Caur IAS, and Darshan HV, and many others to showcase support toward startups and encourage them.

India and Indonesia will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties at the 6th India Gaming Show 2024. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will organize this international event for gaming, animation, and entertainment. For this, the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi has agreed to work with Skyeports. According to a report published on CNBC, teams from India and Indonesia will compete in the popular PC game Counter-Strike 2 at the Skyesports Grand Slam.

This major event will happen in Pune, India, from 14th March to 16th March 2024. Four teams- one from India, one from Australia, and two from Europe will participate to win the championship title. The prize pool for the championship title is $50,000. The showmatch between the India and Indonesia teams is a part of the Skyesports Grand Slam.

At an Indonesian pavilion, local Indonesian games will be promoted for the Indian market. India has 421 million gamers, and the number is increasing. Indonesia also has 180 million gamers, and if gaming communities from both countries work together, it will boost their gaming industries. 

A representative from the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi said that it would not only strengthen the relationship between both countries but also provide the opportunity for people to interact with each other.According to the founder and CEO of Skyesports, Shiva Nandy, esports has the potential to bring people closer on the international level.
