Stardew Valley: Crab Catching Tips

Catching these aquatic creatures in Stardew Valley is quite a challenge for most of the players. In the game, crabs don’t hold much of an importance for most players. However, for those who are seeking to grind out community centre bundles, grabbing at least one of them becomes necessary.

These crabs are usually found in areas like mines and the ocean but aren’t consumable unless they are cooked. For those who don’t know the significance of catching crabs in the game, a crab can be used in the spool of the sewing machine to create a dyeable sailor shirt.

Full-Proof Methods For Grabbing Crabs In Stardew Valley

Now, getting back to the point, how do you catch crabs? Here are three absolute ways to catch crabs in the game:

1] Catching crabs with a pot: When a player gets to level 3 in the game, they get the crab pot recipe. Players can put these pots in a selected area, set the bait, come later that day, and see if they caught any. For Mariners, there is only a 14% chance of catching one for them, and spawn players only have 8% of catching one.

2] Catching rock and lava crabs: Players can find rock crabs on floors 1-29 in The Mines, and for the lava crabs, they can search floors 80-119. Catching chances for a rock crab is around 15%, and for lava crabs, it gets higher to 25%.

3] Buying crabs from a traveling cart: Players can always buy one crab from Willy for 1,500g. However, those who seek cheaper options can go through Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday. Every now and then, players get a chance to buy crabs for a price range of 300g to 1000g.

What To Do With Those Crabs?

Players who seek to grind to complete the Fish Tank Bunde in the community centre know exactly what to do with those. However, new players can use excess crabs to tailor a sailor short and even cook food. If they have over 50 active crab pots, they can sell them for profit as well. An average resell rate for regular crabs is 100g, from which players can potentially earn over 400g per day.
