The Canadian Esports company has finalized the acquisition deal of buying KOI and Movistar Riders. Acquiring both Spanish Esports companies has been in the news since earlier this year, and all the purchases are now completed.
OverActive is already a top-tier force in the gaming industry, owning Mad Lions, Toronto Defiant (An Overwatch team), and Toronto Ultra (A Call of Duty League franchise). On January 4th of this year, the company announced its plans for acquiring KOI and Movistar Riders. Now, OverActive has appointed the founders of both organizations to its board and has made some leadership changes as well.
Completing this deal makes OverActive one of the most prominent Esports holding companies worldwide. The company now leverages a lot of properties and assets across the game market. Not only that, but they also have a huge fan following and content creator network.
Leadership Changes Done By OverActive
Popular faces, including co-founders Ibai Llanos (Content Creator) and Gerard Pique (a former footballer), have now joined the company as shareholders and brand ambassadors. Gerard Pique is a member of OverActive’s board of directors along with Movistar Rider’s Co-founder Gabriel Saez de Buruaga.
OverActive has also appointed Fernand Piquer as Chief Strategy Officer and Carlo Garcia-Acevedo as Chief Comercial Officer. Both Fernando and Carlo are former Co-CEOs of Movistar Rider and are now on board with OverActive.
Additional senior officers include Till Werdermann, who was named VP of Team Operations. Carmen Cardente was appointed as the VP of Marketing, and Mike Shwartzentruber was named VP of Finance.
According to Adam Adamou, CEO of OverActive, these acquisitions have already made a drastic impact on their audience numbers, engagement levels, and sponsorships. Adam also mentioned that this deal brings a huge opportunity for OverActive, and they are filled with enthusiasm for creating something much bigger than expectations.
