Xbox releasing games on the PS5 started a discussion among gamers, as it was very unusual for a console company to release games on their competitor’s consoles. Microsoft Gaming Head Phill Spencer told The Verge that the Xbox will release 4 games on PS5 and SteamDeck.
Later Phil Spencer said they didn’t want to lift the expectations of users by giving fake expectations, so Starfield and Indiana Jones would stay as Xbox Exclusive. The news divided gamers, half of the people were against Microsoft releasing games on other consoles, and half of the people were happy about it as it could change the gaming future.

They heavily criticised Phill Spencer’s interview with The Verge and the Xbox Business Update event. Andy Robinson of VGC makes fun of Phill Spencer talking about Exclusivity. Phill said No Games is now exclusive to one platform, but Xbox bought Activision for $70 Billion. Xbox did not do that to share games with other consoles.
They were also very concerned about the Console Crisis. In February, a piece of news broke out about “Sony stopping the PS5” due to low sales. Later Microsoft laid off 2,000 people, it was shocking as Microsoft became the second company to top a $3 Trillion Valuation. FPS podcaster suspected it might be due to Xbox, according to reports Xbox is continuing to be at a loss.
According to Andy Robinson and FPS, the main reason for Sony’s low earnings is exclusivity. Games are now released on PC on the same day as PS5. Sony made around $9 Billion in Revenue in the Christmas quarter, from which they generated $600 Million profit, now they have to make games from the profit amount. AAA titles such as Spider-Man 2 and God Of War cost around 200 or 300 Million, to recover the budget they have to reach more audience.
The group further discussed the next generation console PS5 Pro and what Sony can add to the console. Sony gave everything in PS5, from 8k Resolution to a futuristic Joystick. If Sony is thinking of releasing the PS5 Pro, they have to do something different from the PS5 otherwise it will also be a loss-making console.
